ABOUT ME

While studying cinematography at SVA, I also took a method acting class, where in one warm-up exercise the instructor asked everyone to sit face to face with a partner and to stare at each other for 10 minutes. After the awkward laughter passed and we had thoroughly scrutinized the face in front of us, we shared our observations.

Jen has bushy eyebrows. I like Bryan’s well-trimmed moustache. Michaela looks a bit like my aunt. When it came to my turn - in what was probably the highlight of my academic career - I said, “I saw Phil’s humanity”.

Although I took the method acting class for fun and have not booked any roles since then, the idea from that exercise informs my filmmaking to this day. I strive through documentary filmmaking to take deep looks at character-driven narratives, and to share insights into the human experience.
